MAX VAN ZEELAND

MS in Management Information Systems, BS in Communication & Multimedia Design and a passion for technology

A Creative Portfolio

My name is Max van Zeeland and I am a 25 year old interaction designer and support engineer originally from the Netherlands, but currently enjoying life in Florida. I have a bachelor's degree in Communication and Multimedia Design that I attained in Amsterdam, completed with a master's degree in Management Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. The key focus of my work is understanding the user's needs and try to exceed their expectations. In the past I have worked on projects for digital agencies, both educational institutes and education-focused businesses, and I have also done some freelance web design.

Love what you do, and you'll do it well

User Experience Design

I try to understand what it is that people want and need, and deliver on that expectation. I try to understand a profile the target audience by extensive user research and testing. As a user centered designer I strive to maintain a balance between design and usability.

Two sides to technology

My formal education has shown me both the outside and the inside of computers. These complementary fields of creativity and logic, combined with my unique background from Amsterdam, Europe's Digital Design headquarters, and an American master's degree make for a one-of-a-kind type of person who can add value to any project.

Work with passion

I put my heart into my work. By beginning any project with an idea that I am passionate about, I work to transform the idea into a viable product that others will love as well. Prototyping and showing proof of concept will help me achieve this. My goal in my work is to learn something new every day.

Mobile First

In a mobile world, information is now accessible in all variations. I integrate this range of functionality in my designs. My experience includes creating wireframes and prototypes for mobile games and websites, ranging from startup companies to one of the Netherland's most famous Museums.

Rapid prototyping is something I have always loved to do. The ability to see ideas transform at the turn of a hand is not only exciting, but it is incredibly beneficial and vital to any workflow.

Mobile technology has a strong presence in my professional and personal life. Whether I am designing a customized snapchat filter for a fun event, thinking of an idea for an app or website, I stay up-to-date with the latest technological trends.

Please take a lookat some of my work

  • Quiz-bank Prototype

Quiztt was my graduation project from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. It is a prototype for a product that teachers can use to quickly and effortlessly turn a database of collected test questions into a brand new quiz.

    Dina plus Max

For my wedding in November of 2016, I created a useful website for our guests to access that provided a schedule of events and other relevant information for our event. The website is completely scalable and very lightweight to work on every device.

    SchoolsCool.nl

This is a website I made for a Dutch digital design agency. I was the technical lead on this project, as well as the only interaction designer/user experience specialist. Content was written in Dutch by the copy team, and the visuals were designed by the graphic designer.

  • DB Trucking

I redesigned and created this website for a a trucking company in Fort Lauderdale. The company's previous website was outdated and created 10+ years ago. It's clean and modern design works on all platforms and was very well received by the client.

    Visual Design

I enjoy experimenting in Photoshop and learning new design trends. This is a business card I designed, and demonstrates more of my pure design abilities.

    Wireframe sketches

These wireframes are from some of my earlier projects for a crowdsourcing startup company. For this project, The focus of my work was on interaction design.
